The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust are delighted to announce that The Vets with Horsepower Team will again raise funds for the charity. The Horsepower Tour will this year cover The British Isles and Ireland and proceeds will help to equip The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust’s new centre being built in Makasutu.

Professor Derek Knottenbelt from The Vets with Horsepower Team said “We need the help of good people to support our efforts to equip the GHDT education and clinical centre. It is a vital development in the education of vets, owners and children in Gambia and the surrounding countries.

If there was ever any horse or donkey that needed the best available veterinary care it would surely be the one upon whom the lives and livelihoods of a family with 2 children depend. It would be great to see a full house at the Horsepower events this June – its a unique event, fun and educational for everyone. Anyone who is even vaguely interested in horses can come along – your help and participation will make a difference. Please support us in whatever way you can.”

The new centre will consist of an equine hospital, stabling for 25 in-patients, offices, a visitor centre and a lecture room together with accommodation for volunteers, students and staff. This centre will be far more than just an equine rescue centre, it is hoped to be a resource for training both Gambian and overseas vets as well as providing support for the working animals in the coastal region of The Gambia and their owners. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor The Team and donations will be passed to Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust.
