Sisters, Emma Jackson and Becky Jackson-Colwill of Roundhill Law Sport Horses in West Yorkshire were awarded the highly coveted “Elite” Award in the British Breeding/Baileys Horse Feeds Futurity Evaluations with their colt RHL Valhalla’s Law. It doesn’t come any higher than “Elite” and the foal scored 9.0 in his Dressage evaluation.
The panel of international experts said that RHL Valhalla’s Law had a beautiful frame with long lines, showed outstanding potential and had beautiful activity and excellent conformation.
Emma said, “We are absolutely over the moon with the outcome of the evaluations for RHL Valhalla’s Law. Our breeding programme started 3 years ago after we went on our first trip to Germany to visit several studs and stallion shows.
We were inspired by our love of horses and dressage and wanted to breed top quality, well bred, rideable young horses aiming for top level competition”.
“We have always had horses and bred for ourselves to compete but were also inspired by our father Stuart Jackson who has supported us all the way, even letting us take over the sheep sheds and build more stables”.
The Futurity evaluations aim to identify British bred, young potential sport horses and ponies that are destined for careers in dressage, eventing, show jumping or endurance and may even find the Olympic Champions of the future. Entries are categorised by discipline with age groups for foals, yearlings, two and three-year olds.
For the first time The British Breeding/Baileys Horse Feeds Futurity Evaluations saw breeders submitting their entries in a digital format in sets of detailed videos taken on hard and soft ground that were examined by a team of international experts, including a senior veterinarian, Baileys Horse Feeds nutritionist, linear scorer and highly experienced International evaluators from the UK, Holland and Germany.
Emma told us that after their first trip to Germany in 2018 they met horse breeder Joanne Hobson who was selling her Elite St Pr Donnerhall x Rubenstein mare (Donata Von Asslersand). Emma and Becky purchased her in- foal to Uthopia, and she produced a lovely premium Hanoverian colt that year who then became the reserve champion on the elite regional foal tour at Springfern. Donata joined their Home bred Don Romantic Mare (Dante’s Romantic Diamond) who was in foal to Don Deluxe who again produced a lovely premium filly.
The following year after another trip to Germany Emma and Becky were able to purchase a second mare (Fiorentina) who is by Florestan I x Lantham and was in foal to Dante’s Junior from Joanne Hobson. This was a premium Hanoverian Filly foal. RHL Valhalla’s Law is out of Fiorentina who competed at advance level dressage and has had several offspring who are now also competing at high level dressage.
RHL Valhalla’s Law (left) is by Vitalis (Vivaldi x D-Day). Emma told us “we chose Vitalis for Fiorentina because he is modern type of stallion with big movement, also his proven competition record, his ride ability, temperament and confirmation. We thought it would be a lovely match for our mare. RHL Valhalla’s Law has exceeded all our expectations”.
“We would like to thank Joanne Hobson, who is now a good friend of ours, for allowing us to purchase our beautiful mares to start off our breeding programme and for her continued support”.
All Elite and Gold award horses are pre-selected for the first ever Futurity Elite Online Auction, which will be held in September this year in cooperation with ClipMyHorse.TV.
The Futurity evaluations will continue until 31st August.
