My obsession and desire of wanting to own my a horse became reality at the age of 16 when I fell in love accidentally with this fabulous chestnut gelding all 17hh of him. He was 12 years old had finished racing at 10 years old so he was ready for his forever home……sold!
When I discovered his name was “finch’s Gem” it was meant to be and so our journey began all 20 years ago to be exact. Unfortunately in march 2019 I lost Percy. We celebrated his 32nd birthday in February 2018 with carrots and his stable friends.
It wasn’t long after the loss of Percy the silks started to become more of a thought and creativity started to flow. I was missing that big, bold lump of ginger fun and then suddenly the business started to evolve giving me something unique and strong to focus on and therefore “finches”was created!
Now to start the next chapter of “finches” journey………
Our Uniqueness ..
Whilst capturing clients weddings and forever shoots the idea came that I could create “wearable memories” in the form of luxury beautiful all British made silk accessories for both gentlemen and ladies.
All Finches designs are created from the images and photography by Gemma Webster Photography. I design many bespoke silks for clients once we had had a forever shoot together, the client is always excited to see the final design as the concept is quite quirky and extremely unique to them.
The silks make beautiful keepsakes from a special day & we also create ‘his and hers’ designs adding a very elegant finishing touch to any wardrobe.
At Finches we are discovering that the silks are becoming an ever so popular choice for wedding gifts for the parents to the bride and groom. As one client quoted to us “imagine opening the draw and seeing that beautiful memory”.
As I am photographer covering equestrian events I have designed many beautiful silk’s for clients who have very special memories of their horse and pony and want them to feel close and have an ever lasting visual memory.
The Silk..
Finches chosen silk is renowned for lustre, shine, strength & durability. Silk is the epitome of luxury due to the soft feel & elegant appearance.
A beautiful silk scarf can be a key item to any wardrobe.
Ways to wear..
Not sure what to wear a silk scarf with? The options are endless….
Ladies suit – choose a bright colour scarf to liven up a plain black suit or a fun print to accent a solid coloured jacket.
In the country – along with tweeds & wool a silk tied around a fedora hat makes an elegant style statement
The use of silk scarves have become increasingly diversified. The most primitive & easiest way to wear a silk scarf is to tie around the neck.
A classic elegant way is called “the French girl twist” this is how,
1 Fold scarf into a triangle
2 Drape scarf around the neck with the large point of triangle facing forward
3 Crisscross ends around the neck & bring forward.
4 Tie a double-knot in front.
You can also dress up and accessorise your handbag with a silk scarf by tying the silk to a handbag is an easy & creative way to uplift your handbag & style.
Can men wear scarves? Yes they can! The very narrow silk’s are a luxury alternative to a tie
Scarves have no rules, the bigger, brighter & more clashing the better
