World Horse Welfare is celebrating the Olympic torch passing near to its
Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Lancashire by holding an Olympic-themed Fun
Day.
The torch passes through the Fylde near Blackpool this week, and on Sunday
24 June our Penny Farm centre are putting on lots of activities for people
to come along and enjoy. They include: –
* A show jumping demonstration
* Sports day favourites involving our rescue horses such as
basketball, races and agility games
* Donkey rides
* Bouncy castle
* Face painting
* ‘All Breeds Dog Training Club’ dog agility display
Visitor Centre Officer Zoe Clifford said: “We thought what better way to
bring the community together and celebrate the Olympics than by holding a
Fun Day. We have a day packed full of activities and displays and an
opportunity for people to come and meet all of our wonderful horses and
ponies.
“There’s the chance to see our very own Pony Agility display team, plus
members of the public can bring along their dog and try out some dog
agility. The YMCA team will also be on hand to discuss their programmes and
give people the opportunity to try out some of their activities. We really
hope people will come along and support us as we’ve tried to include
something for everyone.”
Homemade cakes will be available from the Penny Farm Cake Club which is
gaining in popularity all the time. Visitors can also vote for their
favourite cake to add to the menu.
Everyone is welcome to come along to the free event which is being held
between 11am and 4pm. For more information please contact Zoe Clifford on
