Katie O’Sullivan Portrait with nineteen of his famous descendants.

Katie 0’Sullivan has been working for 18 hours a day to complete this  portrait of  thoroughbred stallion Northern Dancer, surrounded by portraits of his progeny, all champions.  Northern Dancer (1961-1990) Canadian bred, was (arguably)  the most successful stallion of the 20th century, .

Names of these stallions are written on trompe l’oeil stickers, including Galileo, Nijinsky, Frankel, Nureyev (full list available) .   The painting, a celebration of racing history,  is part of her exhibition  (6-28 November 2019 Osborne Studio Gallery).  Could stand alone as a remarkable piece of equestrian art.   In Katie’s words  these horses are all ‘extraordinary and influential.’

Katie’s collectors include the Lloyd Webbers, Derbys, Roxburghes, Bamfords, HRH Prince Philip.
