It was celebration time for members of the Jackpots syndicate as their ex-racehorse Jack The Giant stole the show in the SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse of the Year on day four of Horse of the Year Show (HOYS).
Allister Hood rode the 14-year-old by Giants Causeway to victory in what was the gelding’s final competition in his showing career.
“What a way to end his career,” said Allister. “He’s done his job now. This was the only win that had eluded him, so I’m thrilled we got it for him today. He felt lovely in there.” He continued: “He’ll now stay with me for a while and go hunting.”
Jack the Giant was trained by Nicky Henderson during his racing career and experienced many wins. He will now go forward to contest the Supreme on Sunday.
Second place went to Her Majesty The Queen’s Barber Shop ridden by Katie Jerram with Sophie Tranter’s Bang on Trend in third ridden by Jo Bates.
The Championship is the final of a series open to horses that have raced in Point-to-Point, Flat or National Hunt Racing and is open to both amateurs and professionals. The class is judged along the guidelines of a riding horse class, although the best of type will win.
