How to watch all the Olympic Dressage, Jumping, and Eventing from Tokyo 2021!!

 

With so many people around the UK left scratching their heads wondering how on earth we manage to watch the Dressage Gand Prix at the Tokyo Olympic Games. We thought we will put together a handy guide as to where you can get your Olympics Tokyo 2021 coverage.  

 

Why does the BBC not have full coverage?

After the Rio 2016 Olympics Discovery bought European-wide rights to the Olympics Games in 2016 in a 1.3bn euros deal, worth £922m at the time, and is airing Tokyo 2020 action in the UK through Eurosport. This meant that the BBC, (who would normally carry full coverage) have been restricted to having only two channels available.

 

How do I watch the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo?

BBC One and Two will be covering more than 350hrs of live-action, covering all 33 sports, there will be a second lifestream on BBC iPlayer.  BBC will have coverage of all the medal sessions, they will be shown live on BBC TV, BBC iPlayer,  BBC Red Button, and online through the BBC Sport website. They have promised some coverage of:

Dressage Grand Prix Special Team final

This is not to say they will show all of the events!  My guess is that they will show highlights once all the GB team members have competed that day!

There may be small coverage on the. BBC’s daily updates but if you want to watch all the Eventing or all the qualifiers you will be struggling.  Don’t worry, we have help here!  

You can tune into every equestrian session via Eurosport if you are subscribed already.

If you’re not a subscriber you can also grab the Discovery + app who offer Eurosport through their streaming platform, this, however, will require a subscription, you get three days for free, then it’s £4.99 a month for the next 12 months (this is on a rolling contract so make sure you cancel by the end of the 12 months).

What you need to know once you have the discovery plus app is, it will not work on LG TVs or ROKU in the UK.  If you want to watch it on your TV you will need to stream directly from your phone, tablet iPad, or computer to the TV.

BBC will have coverage of all the medal sessions they will be shown live on BBC TV, BBC iPlayer,  BBC Red Button, and online through the BBC Sport website.

 

Can I catch up on Grand Prix Dressage Qualifiers I missed over the weekend?

Yes, all 8.5hrs are available to stream through Eurosport Player on Discovery +
