Coalville rider Miranda Steel leads British Showjumping’s East Midlands Senior Club League

Miranda Steel from Coalville in Leicestershire, riding Flaming Felix, is successfully leading the East Midlands Senior Club 70cm League by 12 points. British Showjumping’s Club Leagues offer riders the opportunity to compete between 70cm – 1.00m with an aim of qualifying for the National Championship Finals which take place at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire later on this summer.

Miranda has owned Flaming Felix, an Irish bred 10 year old gelding, since March last year and describes him as “a great little horse who will give anything a go”. This year Miranda would like to attend more training clinics to improve their technique and work towards riding bigger courses in the future.

Juggling a busy family life with work, Miranda competes as often as she can. “My daughter Lara is a great help at competitions and my husband is very encouraging as are my other two children who come along to cheer me on”.

To qualify for the Championships, competitors need to sit within the top twenty riders in their league. They will then receive an invitation to join the top twenty from each of the other seven regions to compete at the prestigious British Showjumping National Championships.
