Champagne and canapés greeted guests at an outstanding equestrian fashion show held recently by students of Cathedral Academy of Performing Arts, Wakefield. The event was organised by Ackworth & District Riding Club and helped to raise over £500 in aid of Cancer Research.

The show, which included a range of breath-taking vocal performances, was supported extensively by Iron Horse Equestrian of Moss near Doncaster and the excellent choreography was performed to perfection by CAPA students and children of Ackworth RC members. Iron Horse provided a full range of clothing from suppliers Matchmakers of Bradford, including Totty, Caldene and Harry Hall which were sold off at a reduced price after the event, and an array of high value raffle prizes were also donated from Matchmakers, Gersemi, Horseware and Dubarry.

Jean Waterworth, owner of the Iron Horse store, which was awarded Retailer of the Year in 2010 and 2011 and has been nominated again for 2012, spent many hours organising the event in partnership with ADRC committee members Sharon Webb, Alex Johnson and Harriett Hughes together with her own team of Jo Hopgood and daughter Vanessa Townsend.

“The students from CAPA were exceptional” said Jean, “it was a really lovely fashion show and a great success for all concerned”.
