It has been an exciting few weeks for Harriet, with the arrival of a promising new horse that has joined her Made in Yorkshire Syndicate. With a win already under her belt and the other horses in her team in great form, Harriet and her syndicate members are enjoying the buzz of being back out competing.
I am very excited to announce that we have a new horse for the Made in Yorkshire Syndicate.
Up N Ova, or Donal as he’s known at home, has been purchased for the syndicate from Alex Hempleman, who together with his wife, Kendall, runs Hempleman Equestrian in West Sussex where they breed and produce some lovely horses.
Alex sent me the video of Donal and I really liked what I saw so Mum and I drove down to see him and that was it! I was totally taken with him; he is such a lovely horse, with a fabulous jump and is absolutely divine to ride.
As Alex has produced him so beautifully it’s now down to me to build on his solid foundations. He has settled in well and has hit the ground running with a win at his first competition at Port Royal Equestrian Centre.
The Croft Templar Syndicate’s horse, Simon (Croft Templar), has had a busy few weeks. He went very well in the unaffiliated ODE at Northallerton Equestrian Centre and then had a very good run at Eland Lodge two weeks later. He feels on top form and ready to rock and roll at his first BE event this year at Shelford Manor.
Natalie Milloy’s North End Diamond is also doing his first BE event at Shelford Manor and he has been going very well too!
We had a cracking day at Port Royal Equestrian Centre where all three horses were on top form. It was Donal’s first time out since moving in with us so I was keen to see how he behaved away from home in a competition environment. He was an absolute star and did a smoothly flowing test and behaved impeccably so I was delighted with him.
Unfortunately we forgot to take his overreach boots off before I went in and therefore we got eliminated, which was a real shame as we would have won the class. I’m sure I won’t forget to take my boots off again anytime soon!
Simon produced a lovely test and I was very pleased him, however he was pipped at the post in Prelim 2 by Splashy (North End Diamond) who pulled out a stonking test to win the class with 68.1%.
Not to be outdone, Simon won his other Prelim class with 68.46% so I was absolutely delighted. All three horses then went on to jump really well in their respective show jumping classes. Donal produced a super smooth flowing round in the 1m class, making the fences look tiny. Splash also jumped a super clear in the 1m class and Simon jumped very well in his two 1.05m rounds, having just one unlucky pole down.
All in all, a very positive and productive day. It was absolutely awesome to be back out competing with several horses and the day went so smoothly, thanks to everyone’s help, Sam manned the fort back at the yard, Mum was chauffeur and groom and Natalie and her family were on hand to help swap horses over and get me in the right place, at the right time, on the right horse! #teamworkmakesthedreamwork
